So long as you don't leave any fibers from your balls deep adventure, the prosecution probably won't be able to tie you to the crime.

Just go to bed, have a nice breakfast, easy morning. Maybe look back over outline/flashcards but only briefly. Trust me, I'm a lawyer.

How often do you get to use the "trust me, I'm a lawyer" line? I feel if I were a lawyer that would be part of my everyday vernacular along with "as your attorney, I advise you . . ."

You'd think so, but those words are wildly dangerous. I actively choose not to say anything close to that on day-t0-day basis, haha.

I figured as much. . . It opens a whole world of trouble I would assume.

careful about what you say you're balls deep in on the internet — you don't need a misconstrued statement coming back to bite you via the party-opponent admission exclusion.

Yea if i learned anyhting in professional responsibility, it is to avoid saying anything that a reasonable person might construe as forming an attorney-client relationship.

Just remember: everything is hearsay

I usually go with the 'as your attorney I advise you...' line from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas . But only with friends and before I say something ridiculous, for the reasons discussed below.

But if i write that you told me everything is hearsay on my exam, isnt that hearsay?

Yes. But telling your professor you get legal advice from Oppo is admissible as a statement against interest.

Social Insurance: The US social insurance system is not backed by real assets. There I just told you all you need to know!

I keep contemplating going back to get my JD (have a Masters in Human Resources and Industrial relations...do a lot of legalish work for the government; discovery, representing the agency in certain hearings, writing charges and specifications against employees, etc.). And then I realize that there are people with JDs that do that exact same thing I do, down to the job title and pay....it really kind of makes me NOT want to do it. Hmm...decisions decisions.

Isn't that true of most systems worldwide? :D

Depends. I should have been more clear. I meant U.S social Security. In Canada, they call what is more or less the same thing the CPP (Canadian Pension Plan). The US Social Security system owns treasury bonds. Treasury Bonds are not real assets. In other words, they are only assets because people think the government will repay to social security what it is owed. If the government at some point doesn`t pay it back, those are just sheets of paper. By contrast, the Canadian Pension Plan just puts the money it gets into all kinds of investments such as commercial buildings in India, Water service in south east england, Natrual gas piplines in Norway, and so forth. In otherwords, all these things are real assets (although the CPP also has govt bonds etc) that wil still have value, even if the US government, Canadian government or any other goverment defaults. It`s a better system.

You spelled "finish paying off your masters" wrong.

Who am I kidding, I'll be paying on that forever. This is why we have banks that like letting me borrow dollars to buy cars.
